Israel is the guardian of imperialist interests in the Middle East

The consequences stemming from the decision taken by US President Donald Trump to abandon the Nuclear Program Agreement of Iran are already visible. Israel, which was calling on the US to withdraw from this agreement, yesterday bombed positions of Iranian armed forces in Syria. Once again, the guardian of imperialist interests in the area is proving to be much more aggressive than its bosses.

Israel’s attack on Syria is the exaggerated response and culmination of the skirmishes provoked by Israel due to the presence of Iranian forces in Syria on the side of the Assad government. This attack comes after Trump’s decision to end the agreement with Iran, but also due to the positive election results for Hezbollah in Lebanon, which is also fighting alongside the Iranians and Assad in Syria.

The imperialists, with their aggression and military might, are unashamedly declaring that they will not tolerate any development whatsoever in the region which isn’t determined by themselves and their interests.

The Cyprus Peace Council clarifies that imperialism’s interests not only do not coincide with the interests of the peoples of the region but, on the contrary, the developments over the last twenty years and the interventions in the Middle East should have made every advocate of the pro-imperialist “real-politik” ashamed of the alibi that he/she gives for the shedding of the blood of the peoples.

The Cyprus Peace Council calls on all those who still believe in human dignity, Peace and the power of the people’s will to march with us in the Mass Pancyprian Peace March in the area of the Akrotiri British bases area on Sunday 10 June 2018 at 10:00 a.m.

Let’s take the first step for the world of peace!
